Equity work will always be met with barriers and challenges. The recent attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion serve as a reminder that we have to build a strong foundation of systems and structures in order to maintain and sustain equity in our schools. When we embed equity into everyday systems – like MTSS, professional learning, and family engagement – schools can ensure that equity work moves beyond short-term initiatives, is resistant to short-term political shifts, and shapes school culture over time. This workshop will give you insights into how one school district is approaching equity work, what challenges they are meeting, and how they continue to move forward.
Participants will:
- Reflect on their beliefs about equity and education
- Identify areas of growth for their own school/district
- Develop a plan to keep equity work moving forward in their school/district
