About the Programs
Established in 2004, the VT-HEC Early Childhood (EC) programs are graduate course sequences that prepare candidates to fulfill the requirements for the Vermont Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE) endorsements. VT-HEC is approved to recommend our candidates, upon successful completion of our programs, to the Agency of Education (AOE) for an initial license or additional endorsement. The programs are flexible and designed to accommodate professionals working in schools and early education settings.
Why VT-HEC
A nonprofit in operation for 25 years, VT-HEC values its relentless commitment to high quality instruction and professional learning for aspiring and experienced educators. We seek to benefit Vermont children and families by meeting the unique needs of educators working in schools and early childhood centers.
At VT-HEC, we believe that equity is foundational. We endeavor to find, hear, and amplify voices that have often been missing from conversations, even and especially when these challenge our current thinking. Applicants who offer differences in perspective, experience, background, or identity in all its forms are encouraged to apply. Your perspective can help us grow a more inclusive early childhood workforce in Vermont.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will work effectively with higher education partners, contracted instructors, candidates seeking licensure, and their VT-HEC colleagues. They will maintain strong relationships with EC leadership and participate in state-level initiatives. The ideal candidate is an educator at heart—someone who values quality, professional growth, mentorship, and connection.
