Welcome back to a new school year! And welcome to VT-HEC’s 25th year of providing programs and professional development for educators and others who work with youth.
VT-HEC is dedicated to preparing and supporting educators to work in high-need fields like Special Education and Early Childhood Education, as well as exploring new ones such as Neurodiversity and Inclusion (NDI). This year we’re expanding our focus on social-emotional and behavioral learning, a critical area of interest for educators and schools. Staying energized is crucial in our work with students, families, and each other – and we’re committed to helping you succeed!
In celebration of our milestone anniversary, we will be offering special events and discounts on content that responds to your needs.
- Learn more about our grant-funded professional learning packages in Special Education or NDI. Packages will be awarded to 3 districts at NO COST, and include a combination of live and recorded content with accompanying resources for your group. Apply by October 1, 2024.
- Special Education Legal Update, October 18, FREE, in partnership with VSBIT. This virtual workshop will provide a legal perspective on common issues in special education, as well as a review of recent court decisions and federal and state guidance impacting VT special educators.
- Sarah Ward returns on October 30 to present “Executive Function Skills: Strategies for Identifying and Overcoming Learning Barriers” for K-5 educators. We’re offering a discounted price of $125 for this fantastic workshop!
- We’re excited to present a new series on “The Power of Dialogue” with VT educator T. Elijah Hawkes. The workshop series begins October 31 and provides strategies to run good meetings, foster adult community, and solve problems collaboratively. Later workshops address racial justice in mostly white schools, and how communication influences SEL, discipline, and academics. Attend in person or virtually.
