Andrew Conforti joins VT-HEC Board of Directors
We are pleased to welcome Andrew Conforti to the VT-HEC Board of Directors. Andrew is currently the principal of Colchester High School and also serves as Athletic Director. Andrew has also held a number of positions in the Addison Central School District. In the spring of 2018, he was hired as Secondary Coordinator for Special Education for Addison Central. During that time, he helped to develop a strong system of services coordinated across the nine schools. After two years in that position, he became Assistant Principal at the Middlebury Union Middle School.
Our Board Chair, Vicki Wells, enthusiastically recommended Andrew to the Board saying, “I truly believe that Andrew will be a great asset to the VT-HEC board. He brings with him a deep knowledge of schools and systems, along with a desire to do what is right for the students and families he serves.”
Andrew is excited by the opportunity to play a role in guiding VT-HEC, as well as representing the needs of his and other secondary teachers. He expressed interest in our new Math & Science licensing program and has been impressed by VT-HEC’s special education initial licensing program in Colchester. As Athletic Director of Colchester, he is very aware of the role that sports, coaches, and extracurricular activities can play in kids’ lives. He shared his belief that coaches and athletic directors could benefit from additional training and support – something new for VT-HEC to consider offering.
Andrew’s experience working across roles and systems will strengthen VT-HEC’s ongoing work to support high-quality professional learning across Vermont. We’re grateful for the insight he will bring, and we look forward to his contributions to our board’s vision and decision-making.
