Named in honor of Manuela Fonseca to celebrate her leadership and far-reaching impact in the field, VT-HEC’s early childhood programs prepare educators through coursework, mentorship, and classroom experience.

Who is Manuela Fonseca?
For more than 20 years, Manuela Fonseca’s leadership and vision guided VT-HEC’s Early Childhood Licensing Programs. In this role, she developed our early childhood and early childhood special education programs from the ground up, built strong partnerships, and supported hundreds of aspiring educators.
She led the programs through state approval processes, enhanced curriculum and licensure pathways, helping to ensure that Vermont’s youngest learners benefit from a strong, highly qualified workforce.

For Early childhood educators
Patty Morgan Scholarship
Professional learning funds are limited for early educators, many of whom work in private settings. Awarded annually, this scholarship covers the costs of the VT-HEC Manuela Fonseca Early Childhood Program for one early childhood educator or early childhood special educator.
The Patty Morgan Scholarship covers the selected candidate’s VT-HEC tuition costs not covered by other funding sources.
