A typical school day is full of static that can drain students’ ability to think and learn. Not being sure where materials are, having directions introduced in a confusing way, or having too much presented at one time can cause stress that interferes with learning. In this webinar we will discuss how to free up your students’ emotional bandwidth and then help them channel it using specific, effective learning and regulation tools. We will also explore how to use cognitive science and psychology to regulate and engage the brain, structure dynamic lessons, and create supports using a Universal Design for Learning perspective.

Participants will:

Identify working memory strategies that address cognitive load, use visuals and chunking, and scaffold.

Rethink and rewire patterns in well-meaning classrooms that can prevent safety and whole-brain-capacity.

Develop teaching strategies to offer structure, challenge, and opportunity.
