Fostering Independent Problem Solvers and Learners: Prioritizing Executive Functioning in Classrooms

This recorded virtual workshop provides participants with a greater understanding of executive functioning, and the necessity of explicitly teaching these facets in the school setting to increase independence. Particular attention is given to problem solving, organization, and regulation; in addition, working memory, attention, and other facets will be discussed. Participants will:
- Describe and label common executive functioning facets, and the development of these skills as observed in the classroom;
- Understand and describe common classroom challenges and how they relate to challenges in Executive Functioning; and
- Identify, describe, and apply various strategies and activities to support executive functioning development and how these strategies/activities can be incorporated into the classroom.
