This interactive workshop will equip participants with skills to develop high-quality, developmentally appropriate IEP goals for preschool-aged children. Through practical strategies and real-life examples, attendees will explore how well-crafted IEP goals support program planning, guide instructional decisions, and drive meaningful progress monitoring. Participants will learn how to write measurable, relevant, individualized goals aligned with evidence-based practices as well as federal and state special education regulations. The session will also address systems for tracking and reporting progress, ensuring goals remain relevant and actionable across the span of the year.
Participants will leave this session with the knowledge and tools to:
- Write meaningful goals: Develop developmentally appropriate, measurable IEP goals for preschoolers that meet federal and state requirements and align with best practices.
- Plan with purpose: Use IEP goals to guide program planning and instructional decision-making in early childhood settings.
- Collaborate as a team: Strengthen collaborative practices among IEP team members—including families, educators, and specialists—to ensure goals are individualized, shared, and supported consistently.
- Monitor progress effectively: Design practical systems that support instructional tracking and reporting progress across goals, environments and service providers.
