This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the new Woodcock-Johnson V (WJV) Tests of Achievement—an expanded battery of 26 tests designed to assess all key areas of academic performance in depth. Participants will learn selective testing strategies, as well as general administration and scoring procedures. In addition, they will understand the updates to the WJV structure and how to use its new digital tools.
The session will emphasize interpreting test results to understand learning profiles, identifying specific learning disabilities, assessing oral language levels, and designing instructionally relevant programming. Participants will also explore the phonological and rapid automatic naming tests available in the WJ Virtual Test Library and learn how to use WJV data to support the identification of dyslexia—one of the most important learning profiles identified within the WJV structure.
Participants will:
- Familiarize themselves with the task demand of the new WJV and be able to explain these tasks and their implications.
- Understand how to use WJV to understand and explain a learner’s profile to evaluation and IEP teams.
- Interpret the results of the WJV to make recommendations for accommodations and specialized instruction.
