This workshop will provide a review and analysis of recent legal developments both in Vermont and nationally in special education law. New judicial decisions will be covered along with the policy and practice implications for Vermont educators. Topics to be covered include: The Federal Results Driven Accountability System, Evaluation issues including functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), Eligibility determination, IEP development and implementation including the impact of the Common Core State Standards, Least Restrictive Environment, Private School Placements, Behavior and Discipline, Bullying and the provision of FAPE.
