This workshop focuses on teaching reading to students who have Autism Spectrum Disorders and extending their skills in literacy. Very often, students with autism are not able to be successful with traditional approaches to learning. Workshop content is directed to instructors of students at any age who are in the process of learning to read or who are working towards expanding their skills to make reading a more meaningful, enjoyable and useful experience. An alternative approach to literacy skill development is presented along with practical, take-home strategies that can be implemented the next day.
